How I Got Into The Vending Industry

Well my time in the vending industry was started by my carrier in electronics.
I got out of the Navy where I had served as a electrician working on SH2F helicopters.
When I got out of the Navy I went to work for a company that designed and manufactures audio systems for fast food corporations.
I worked in the Audio field for some time and had dealt with the vending machine on many occasions and had a interest in the electronics that made them work.
I went to a large vending operation just outside of Chicago and presented them with the idea of having an in-house repair department.
I worked on the components of the vending machines and learned the many ins and outs of  new technology that was coming into its growth of the vending industry.
Many of the machine designs were starting to use more and more electronic devices in the machines so I knew that it would be a growing field.

I worked in the field of vending service technician for many years before joining a major manufacture of the machines named Lektro-Vend.
Lektro-Vend was a great product but the company was not sound enough to continue to manufacture and unfortunately had to close its doors.
I had heard great things about the company and how the company had the best snack vending machine around.

While with Lektro-Vend I worked in the parts department before being promoted to National Service Manager.
While National Service Manager for Lektro-Vend I had the opportunity to travel and meet many operators out in the field.
By working one on one with these operators I was able to get a better understanding of what they needed on our machines.
Lektro-Vend was a machine that was built like a tank and we were making a great food machine that would become the leader in small food machines today.
The problem with Lektro-Vend was that the company was struggling to recover from a bankruptcy that would haunt the company for years to come.

I still believe that if Lektro-Vend would have been able to stay financially strong for a few more years that it would have been the number one vending machine manufacture in the world today.

After Lektro-Vend had to close its doors I was hired by a company out of Iowa named U-Select-It.
While with U-Select-It I was assigned the duties customer service manager. I really love working with the customers and making their experiences with the company I represent the best they know.
I guess if ask what is my number one skill, I would have to say working with people as that just comes natural to me.
I worked for USI for some time before having to move to N.C. for personal reasons.
North Carolina has some of the most friendly country that this great USA has to offer and we found a great place to settle down.
I had been traveling for many years while I worked for the manufactures, so to come off the road and spend more time with my family was a great reward.

Once I got settled in North Carolina I joined a distributor of vending machines that I had worked with back in my Lektro-Vend days and was assigned the duties of general manager and day to day operations of our refurbishment center. Now if you thank the refurbishment of a machine is a coat of paint and some vinyl just tell that to one of your refurbish center mechanics and see what they have to say. Refurbish mechanics have to know all makes & models and how they work inside out. They have to be able to work with no schematics and troubleshoot a variety of problems. To all you vending refurbish center mechanics I say hats off to you, and your work is greatly appreciated.

After spending many years learning the many aspects of the vending industry I felt it was time to start my own company and on August 2nd 1999 I launched Vendweb.Com
I have spent many years working with operators and manufactures and now would like to put my skills to work for you.
